I have to admit, when I’m on my way to a family session and it clouds over, I feel a little bummed out. Don’t get me wrong, cloudy day photos are beautiful too but I am just drawn to the light! I love the sun shining through the trees, or on the back of my clients’ heads. So, on this Sunday afternoon when it was looking a bit dreary out, I was disappointed. We started in an open area that was way too windy for a sweet little two year old. So we moved to a more sheltered area of Birds Hill Park and then the most magical thing happened. These big, soft, chunky snowflakes started falling from the sky! Thank you Mother Nature!! It was honestly like walking in a winter wonderland. I could not get over how lucky we were to be there in that moment!
Of course, it was still cold. So we took breaks lol. Which worked out well for me too because although I have winter gloves made for using a camera with, my hands were cold! But that is definitely the way to do a winter shoot! Especially when little ones are involved. Choose a location that is close to where we park so we can take those much needed warming breaks!
I had such a blast taking photos of this family. Of course, Erin and I bonded over a similar hair colour lol but also that our girls are only days apart in age. I really appreciate meeting other Mamas with little ones around the same age, there’s just that instant connection. And we just have so much to chat about! Thank you guys for being such great sports! I hope you love your winter wonderland photos just as much as I do, or more!
