Fall is such a tricky time of year for photo sessions. It could either be 20 above and sunny, or we could have snow! Well, we lucked out with this session. It was a beautiful evening out at birds hill park and literally two days later, we had a snow storm that resulted in a Provincial state of emergency being called.
Carly and I are both Moms to two year olds so naturally our conversation during the session revolved around this. Bed times, mommy/daddy stages and daycare stories. We had actually rescheduled our original session date because of a fall at daycare that resulted in a bit of a shiner! When I checked in with Carly earlier in the day to firm up our plans, she told me that she had come down with a bad cold and that her daughter had a new scratch on her face. I asked if she was still up for doing the session and I think her response was something along the lines of “if we wait until we’re all 100% healthy and injury free, it may never happen!” lol!
I truly believe that no session is ever “perfect” and that’s exactly how it should be! As photographers, our job is to freeze moments in time and this is the reality of the season of life they are in! So although I did edit out the little scratch on Molly’s face, I’m still glad to went ahead with the session and captured this sweet time in their lives!
